My friends from Alaskagraphy nominated Empiricusembarks for the Leibster award. Sweet! Thanks guys!
The award nomination is continually passed on to other blogs, which stirs activity and spurs new connections among readers. Cool!
This award comes with a list of questions, put to the nominees, by the nominating party. So here is what Alaskagraphy asked:
Why did you decide to start blogging?
I first started blogging, when I had decided on sailing the Northwest Passage and begin a circumnavigation of the globe. The blog was a way to communicate with friends and the public, in a more professional format then standard social networking sites. It was also an outlet for some writing I had begun, while teaching sailing and delivering boats in Alaska. I’m glad I did because I have come to enjoy sharing as much as doing!
. What has been your favorite experience you’ve blogged about so far?
So far the letter to my boys has been my most personally rewarding blog post by far. But any time I am passing on something crucial, that came at a high personal price, is gratifying to post.
. What would be your dream adventure/trip?
I am already doing it! Sailing around the world! But if I could change one thing, it would be that I could do so continually and write for a living along the way. This is my new goal as a sailor, father and writer. To live my dream while sharing adventures with my family and make a living at it through writing.
. What is your favorite movie (or movies) and why?
Well I’m a sucker for hero / underdog movies. So Ill have to say “Braveheart” Though I usually prefer comedy, this movie represents much of what I appreciate about people. The unrelenting focus and effort of a single person, has, can and will continue to change the course of history as we know it.
Seriously, cats or dogs?
Well taking either critter around the world is tough, so for now neither one. But all in all, dogs make better outdoor companions and bear alarms.
One day when Samantha and I stop sailing, we will have horses, goats and chickens. At that point, some dogs and cats will be mere accessories on the Osborn Ranch. The only prerequisite is that they have some attitude and personality. No boring animals!
Thanks again to Alaskagraphy for this nomination!
In turn I nominate the following blogs for the Liebster Award.
captainsblogalaska.blogspot.com
My questions to those nominees are as follows.
- What is your greatest fear while on the water?
- What other adventures are you interested in?
- What is the best meal, while on the go?
- Is staying in touch with shore, worth the hassle?
- What was your coolest docking experience?
Thanks for the follow! Loved your answers to Alaskagraphy’s questions, and excited to follow your blog and your adventure ’round the world!
